Outreach Ministries

With gratitude for the gifts we receive from God, we contribute our time, abilities, and resources in service of our community, by joining in solidarity with neighbors in need, and by caring for all creation.

Camp Stevens

Our diocesan camp provides a space for campers to learn about themselves, one another, and God’s abundant creation in the company of peers and caring adults. Each year we raise funds to help with Camperships, in particular Camperships to help support RefugeeNet provide campership opportunities and support other children who otherwise would not be able to enjoy the adventure of summer camp at Camp Stevens.

LGBTQIA+

Knowing that some of the most hateful rhetoric against the LGBTQ community comes from religious communities, we are dedicated to welcoming and serving so many of God’s precious people who are channels of God’s love. We have partnered with the North County LGBTQ Resource Center to support them in their work, we attend the Pride by the Beach Event in Oceanside each year, giving out free hugs, and we advocate against bigotry and hatred.

RefugeeNet

This Episcopal non-profit organization has been helping the refugee community for over 20 years and the Holy Cross annual Rice and Oil drive has provided tons of rice and hundreds of gallons of cooking oil to help lighten the burden on those who seek to make a new home in San Diego.

Wounded Warriors:

For over 15 years Holy Cross has called to help the men and women who have been scarred by war to heal in body, mind and spirit. Twice a month a faithful group visit the Wounded Warrior Battalion at Camp Pendleton bringing healthy snacks and conversation.

We Care Bags for Meals on Wheels (MOW)

For 15+ years Holy Cross has provided first-time Meals-on-Wheels clients in North San Diego County with welcome bags (We Care Bags). Each month, a ministry leader makes the custom bags, fills them with small personal items for men or women, and delivers them to the MOW headquarters in San Marcos. MOW volunteers then deliver the We Care Bags to first time clients, along with their first meal. Although we don’t meet the people who receive the bags, over the years, we have learned that We Care Bags offer a sense of caring and connection to those who are losing independence.
