The Rt. Reverend Susan Brown Snook

The Rt. Rev. Dr. Susan Brown Snook is the chief pastor of our diocese. She is the apostolic leader in mission, evangelism and spiritual formation. She represents the diocese to the wider church and the wider church to the diocese. Bishop Susan was ordained and consecrated as the fifth bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of San Diego on June 15 at St. Paul’s Cathedral in San Diego. Bishop Susan is the first woman to serve as bishop in the 45- year history of the Diocese of San Diego. You may learn more Bishop Susan on the Diocesan website.

The Rev. Susan J Latimer

     The Rev. Susan J Latimer grew up at All Saint’s Vista, singing in the children’s choir, where the music and liturgy became a part of her. Music (singing and piano) was her first love and she studied at Yale, in Vienna, and at USC receiving two degrees in music before pivoting towards priesthood. She was ordained in the Diocese of Atlanta in 1992, the same year she married John B. Roberts. She has served in parishes as an assistant / associate in the Diocese of Atlanta, and as Rector in the Dioceses of Maine, West Virginia, Southwest Florida and San Diego over the past 32 years.  Susan and John have two grown children, Franklin and Cecelia.

     Throughout her priesthood she has been focused on spiritual formation, contemplative practices, leading small groups, and congregational development based in Benedictine spirituality. In 2011 she became a professed member of the Order of the Ascension, a religious order in the Episcopal Church whose charism is parish development based in Benedictine spirituality, ascetical theology and practice, and organization development.

     Since 2015 she has been a student of Cynthia Bourgeault’s wisdom teaching and since then has offered retreats and group work in this wisdom lineage. She is a composer of sacred contemplative music.  In July of 2023 she retired from fulltime parish ministry after 31 years.  She is currently serving as a long term supply priest at Holy Cross,  along with her role as Dean of EDSD’s WCC school for ministry.
