Rethinking Evangelism

While the Bishop’s Committee will meet this Thursday night, I hope as many of you can attend this month’s Transformation Academy as possible. Tomorrow, June 17, Transformation Academy will conclude with a special focus on EVANGELISM! As you may remember, 2021 is the Year of Evangelism in our diocese, and I hope that this Transformation Academy will help encourage and enliven us as a community to share the good news of Christ with the world.

This (Evangelism) Leadership Academy will begin with a keynote presentation by The Rev. Dwight Zscheile Ph.D., Vice President of Innovation and Associate Professor of Congregational Mission and Leadership at Luther Seminary in St. Paul, Minnesota. This presentation will be especially helpful as we continue our focus on evangelism and emerge from the last year’s challenges–providing us with new tools to rethink the way we welcome the world.

Breakout session one will be led by the Rev. Dr. Frank Munoz, Missioner for Military Ministry, who helps us develop programs that welcome, encourage, and aid military members and their families. Finally, Breakout Session Two, led by the Rev. Darin Johnson, Agape House Campus Pastor, will decode young adults—focusing on how Jesus knew that young adults are the way to transform faith, community, and the world. This is the perfect opportunity for many to attend together and develop new skills in Christian leadership, evangelism, and sharing the good news of Christ. In our new post-pandemic context, Evangelism is more important than ever. Please make it a priority if possible on Thursday evening from 6:00 – 7:30pm, so we can all can benefit from this transformation offering. While the BC will not be able to attend due to our regular meeting, we will be watching the recording.
